Designations Create Distinctions: Top 5 Resources For SRES Designees

Welcome back to the Designations Create Distinctions blog. Many of you know that one of my original designations was the Senior Real Estate Specialist Designation – I just LOVE supporting older adults and their families. However, every generation and every segment of the older adult population has different needs and different considerations. On that note, I am pleased to share 5 resources that are of great value to all present & future SRES® Designees! (Click titles to be directed to the resources!)

For over 5 years, I have featured a weekly Senior Spotlight on my own real estate blog to serve as an educational platform for older adults and their families. This information is also a great way for SRES® Designees to stay on top of the issues pertaining to all aspects of aging, housing and health today.

This is a PBS publication whose mission is to meet the needs and unleash the potential of older Americans through the power of media. Next Avenue also has a measurable impact, with having served over 40 million people and sparking an action step in 95% of readers.

The National Institute on Aging (NIA) website offers information about the science of healthy aging, and Alzheimer’s disease and Alzheimer’s disease-related dementias (AD/ADRD). NIA scientists and other experts review the content of this website before it is published to ensure that it is evidence-based, accurate, authoritative, and up to date.

Senior Housing News (SHN) is the leading source for news and information covering the senior housing industry. The national reach of over 30,000 professionals includes senior housing operators, developers, banking institutions, real estate investment trusts, private equity, and service providers catering to the industry.

#5: AARP

You have no doubt heard of AARP, but did you know their mission is to empower people to choose how they live as they age?! Their role as an advocate in the senior marketplace and their contributions to forming public policies are shaped largely by their diverse members.

While we all know and agree that nothing is more important than listening to our clients needs, these resources provide some perspective on where those needs are coming from and what our communities are doing in response. As a Senior Real Estate Specialist®, I know that I love being part of the solution… don’t you?!
