It’s time to talk about: foot traffic! You may have heard this term used as a seller when your agent has shown your home and is describing how many people came through the door. But according to the National Association of REALTORS® “foot traffic has a strong correlation with future contracts and home sales, so it can be viewed as a peek ahead at sales trends two to three months into the future.” Thus, foot traffic is not only important to current sellers – but to buyers, homeowners and investors as a powerful resource in depicting current and future housing trends.
Please see below for the latest foot traffic index released, which demonstrates an increase of 6.2 points in January from the prior month and is unchanged from this same time last year.
For a more in-depth explanation of this index, please listen in to this informative podcast from NAR® titled “Real Estate Insights: Foot Traffic” HERE.
If you have any questions at all about what the diffusion index of foot traffic means above, or would like you to share what foot traffic I have seen in the areas I serve, please do not hesitate to let me know!
