Now that we are all spending a great deal more time at home, we may find ourselves looking around and adding to our home ‘wish lists’. Are there features you wish your home had right now… or not? Has your vision for your next residence changed? Have you asked your friends and /or children what home features they wish they could have right now?
If so, you may find that different generations have different general design trend desires! According to a recent article from The Boston Globe revealing what panelists/interior design experts from the International Builders Show in January had to say – there are some distinctive differences. In summary, they found that Millennials strive for sustainability and flexibility, while Gen Xers are seeking customization.
Meanwhile, the Baby Boomer design desires list is focused on the prioritization of casual entertaining both indoors and out! Panelists declared that many Baby Boomers want an informal home in which the kitchen, outdoor space and dining area flow seamlessly for easy entertaining. Think less want for a formal living room, and more need for a large kitchen island with comfortable seating (not flimsy island bar stools!). Furthermore, they hope to gain or retain some luxury styling such as ‘marble everything’. Even Boomers who downsize want room to entertain and style in spaces of any size.
