You have no doubt heard that our friends and neighbors in the South Bay have endured a tragic, senseless and unimaginable act of violence. We are taking time away from our usual Monday Market Update to instead share ways to support those impacted, to thank our first responders and to pass along resources that may help our youth cope with what is challenging for even an adult to process. If you know of additional ways to help, please email firstname.lastname@example.org and we will be sure to share the information with our network.
HOW TO HELP (Gilroy Foundation)
In partnership with the Gilroy Foundation, Silicon Valley Community Foundation has established a charitable fund to provide relief to victims of the terrible shooting that occurred July 28, 2019, at the Gilroy Garlic Festival.
Three festival goers, a 6-year-old boy, a 13-year-old girl and a man in his 20’s were killed and about 15 others were injured in the violent attack.
The funds collected will be distributed by Gilroy Foundation to victims and to local nonprofit organizations that provide effective relief to those affected. SVCF has contributed an initial $10,000 to the fund.
