Monday Market Update: National Home Sales Snapshot

Nationwide home sales are down 2% month-over-month, but up 1.4% in the West!

Real estate data: One stat does not fit all! The latest Pending Home Sales Snapshot from the National Association of Realtors (NAR)® reveals that the pending home sales dropped 2% compared to the prior month. (This refers to the latest available data released September 28th.)

While this represents an overall small decline given the headlines that have been dramatizing the market changes, the real picture lies within the regional figures. As you will see below, pending home sale levels dropped as much as 5.2% in the Mid-West, yet actually increased almost 1.5% in the West.

As you can imagine, if these wide variations occur from region to region, imagine how much the figure actually change from state to state, from county to county and among the micro-markets within.

Thus we encourage you to take in the big picture real estate glimpses as a whole, but make your own personal real estate decisions based on what is happening in your own community. The only thing that matters - is what you do next!

All my best,
