Senior Spotlight: Did You Know That The Typical REALTOR® Is Over Age 50?

The 2022 NAR® Member Profile Report reveals that the median agent is 56 years old.

Perseverance. Experience. Knowledge. Dedication. These are just a few of the qualities that make the kind of agent that you want to work with and they also are a natural extension of the length of one’s career. In the just released NAR® 2022 Member Profile Report, the data reveals that the median age of a REALTOR® is 56 (up from age 54 in 2021).

In addition, 2 out of 5 NAR® members are over 60 years old. In addition, 18% of those surveyed have more than 25 years of experience. Those with 16 or more years of experience reported the greatest share of repeat business from clients & referrals.

As we continue to share news & updates that make the most of life over age 50 in our weekly Senior Spotlight, we thought it was an interesting insight to learn that the median age of an agent is in this demographic as well.

If you are a career agent who is also approaching your own retirement years – we thank you truly for your dedication amidst many changing markets! If you are considering hiring an agent for your own buying or selling goals, we encourage you to consider factors such as experience, real estate association membership & associated ethics, as well as knowledge base and industry education.

Cheers to doing what you love at all ages & stages in life!
