Senior Spotlight: Helpful Holiday Hints To Protect & Support Our Seniors

Stop the scams and start the shopping – older adults deserve holiday fun too!

The holidays are often thought of as a time for joy and endless events related to winter, holidays and cheer. However, this time of years can be particularly challenging for older adults – who may already be struggling with isolation, loneliness, self-sufficiency or the loss of a spouse, friends or even a purpose. Whether the oldest and wisest in your family and friend community are newly retired or experienced champions of the golden years, we have selected 3 articles to protect and support them with ease.

How To Help A Lonely Older Adult During The Holidays

Baylor College of Medicine

This just-released read reminds us why the holidays can be so hard for seniors and what changes may suit their needs at this stage of life. Invite a neighbor to join for Thanksgiving dinner or drop off a piece of pumpkin pie. Reach out and gauge what people need and be gentle with each other. We’ve all been through a lot in the last few years, and we’re still finding our footing.”

According to the FBI, tech-support scams, identity theft, and nonpayment for or non-delivery of goods or services are the most common crimes. Read more here

Happy 4th of July! The Bobbi Decker Team would like to start off by wishing you all weekend celebrations that are safe, memorable and meaningful! As we welcome the holiday that commemorates the passage of the Declaration of Independence and our nation’s birth, we deeply honor our freedoms. The 4th of July typically represents the core values of freedom of speech, freedom of religion and the right to pursue happiness. As we embrace all that is possible when we let freedom ring, may we also be mindful of the impact of not honoring one another’s differences.
