Happy 4th Of July | A Focus On Freedom & Furry Friends

The festivities that are so meaningful to us can be incredibly harmful to our pets… read on.

Nothing marks the true heart of summer like the 4th of July! The gatherings of family & friends, the hot grills and cool drinks, the flags, the symbols of freedom and the fireworks... While we value almost nothing more than the courage of those who have earned the freedoms we have today, we are also keenly aware of how those festivities can create fear and danger for our pets.

Did You Know: Animal control officers across the US report a 30% increase in lost pets each year from July 4th-6th? The American Veterinary Association reports that fireworks are a leading reason that dogs (and cats!) get startled and run away, seeking shelter from the noise. Overcrowded shelters face the insurmountable task of housing these lost, scared and sometimes injured animals until they can be reunited with their owners.

Please take a moment to review the tips we have compiled below, and feel free to share with any animal lovers in your life.

As we all rejoice in the 4th of July with pride, patriotism and gratitude – may we always honor those who have served our country and never, ever forget their sacrifices.

Happy, Happy 4th! Celebrate big, advocate safety & honor always!
