Monday Market Update: CAR® Reports Market Competition Continues

Over 50% of California properties are selling above list price. 

It’s the last Monday in August and a time many would call the end of summer. Today we are reporting what we call a ‘fast fact’ feature which shares a key real estate statistic to give you an overview of where the market is at in a minute!


As you can see from the graphic below, CAR® data reveals that 50.3% of homes are selling above asking price. – and that is across the state! In San Mateo County, the average sales price is actually 104% of sales price. In addition, CAR® indicates that statewide prices are trending upward as a whole for the first time in many months. (Many individual markets have seen price increases year-over-year, but this is the first time that has occurred in the state average in almost a year.)
