Monday Market Update: How AI Can Empower Agents & Transform Online Listings

Improving real estate relationships, not replacing them.

AI is changing every industry, and real estate is no exception. While virtually every worker in every industry has wondered how AI will impact them, and if it will replace them, the National Association of Realtors® is focused on how it can help. Rather than seeing AI as the downfall to consumer-agent interactions, NAR® believes that: “The future of real estate isn't AI or humans. It's AI empowering humans to create more informed, immediate and meaningful consumer experiences.”

An article published today has shared several key ways that AI can support listings and drive an interactive experience via online searches. Here are the highlights, courtesy of Realtor.com® and the start-up Infinityy:

1) AI can turn a static listing page into an interactive decision-making environment, enabling consumers to ask questions, explore homes and neighborhoods more intelligently, and instantly connect with an agent when interest is highest.

2) The result is an experience in which the potential buyer can access information related to walkability, lifestyle preferences, demographics, amenities, transportation and market statistics in a way that helps answer the real questions driving their decisions.

3) Once the buyer gets to a point where they have the property information they want, they can instantly connect with an agent through text, voice or even live collaborative video directly inside the listing itself. Industry experts believe that this immediacy is a game changer, as the agent-consumer conversation occurs in the exact moment of interest instead of delayed follow-up hours later.

4) AI ultimately changes the online home shopping experience into a lens of “engagement quality, not just lead quantity.” Agents can see whether a buyer has just glanced at photos or asked detailed questions, virtually explored the neighborhood and/or shared the listing with a partner or friend.

5) The bottom line: By the time an agent follows up with a lead, they already understand the buyer's interests, questions and priorities.

We encourage you to read the article in full here. We also want to point out the productive and positive way that the real estate industry is embracing AI. Rather than see it as a threat to what agents can do, NAR® is committed to utilizing AI as a tool to help buyers shop more efficiently and to help agents interact more intentionally.

Cheers to change for the better,
