Monday Market Update: Realtor.com® Reveals Top 10 Nice List

There is no place like home for the holidays… but that doesn’t mean you cannot do a little festive exploring until then! This week, Realtor.com® revealed the top 10 “US Towns That Come Alive For The Holidays." If you are looking for a jolly jaunt to ensure you witness the most wonderful time of the year – you can even find one of these locales less than 4.5 hours from the Bay Area!

Did you take a look at the list above and check it twice? If so, you may have noticed that Solvang, California is one of only two west coast winners! Realtor.com® explains that Solvang is about 45 minutes from Santa Barbara and is known as “The Danish Capital of America” because of early historic settlers from Denmark. This city earns the top spot to experience the Danish & Norwegian concept known as “hygge”: feelings of cozy contentment, comfort, simple pleasures, physical & emotional warmth and calm connection with loved ones! Who wouldn’t want all of that? 

Learn all about the offerings of Solvang’s month-long holiday celebration known as “Julefest”, which started November 28th, 2025 and runs until January 4th, 2026. Merry morning walks, candlelight tours, hot chocolate-filled trolley rides through decorated streets and daily light and music shows are just a few of the town’s traditions. Plus, the business community hosts a window decorating contest which has resulted in many of the eateries, shops, wine tasting rooms and hotels having window winter wonderlands.
