Monday Market Update: Trend Alert – The Cottagecore Vibe

This latest home décor trend is one that we can all get behind – especially in winter!

From coastal grandma chic to barndominium inspiration, our blog is known to feature fun home décor trends. This week, we are excited to bring you one that is a great fit for the warm, wintry days: cottagecore.

What Is Cottagecore?

This style vibe is one that mixes nostalgia, comfort and country living. Architectural Digest (AD) defines cottagecore as “a movement hearkening back to agricultural life, skills, and crafts” that “embraces a simpler, sustainable existence that is more harmonious with nature.” Realtor.com® defines it more simply as “a lifestyle trend that embraces comfort and coziness in your living environment” that evokes what it would be like living in a cottage.

What Are The Design Elements Of Cottagecore?

Home improvement expert and founder of Happy DIY Home, Jen Stark, says to think of a home decorated in cottagecore as one designed through rose-colored spectacles. Imagine rooms where you can smell fresh baked bread, view herb gardens form your windows and make fresh squeezed lemonade.

You might see prints of ginghams and florals, shades of vintage blues and greens, textures woven and crochet, one-of-a-kind pottery pieces and even foraged natural materials such as tree branches.

How Does Cottagecore Fit Into Different Rooms?

If you are a fan of Pinterest – you need to start a cottagecore board! There are countless examples online of what cottagecore looks like in virtually every room in you home. More recently, Realtor.com® published an article on cottagecore in the kitchen – citing farmhouse lantern pendants, cozy window nooks and hanging baskets as top accents. Life On Summerhill has a comprehensive article on incorporating this design trend in your bedroom by way of a canopy bed with vines, vintage string lights & accessories, dried flowers & antique furniture.

Does this décor trend remind you of a time gone by… of your great grandmother’s home? Do you already have elements of this comfortable vibe in you home and just didn’t know you were trendy? Is there a design element that screams comfort to you – cottagecore themed or not?

No matter what your style is or what you call it, we hope that your heart and home are filled with warmth and peace this winter.

Warmest wishes (pun intended!),

Happy 4th of July! The Bobbi Decker Team would like to start off by wishing you all weekend celebrations that are safe, memorable and meaningful! As we welcome the holiday that commemorates the passage of the Declaration of Independence and our nation’s birth, we deeply honor our freedoms. The 4th of July typically represents the core values of freedom of speech, freedom of religion and the right to pursue happiness. As we embrace all that is possible when we let freedom ring, may we also be mindful of the impact of not honoring one another’s differences.
