Senior Spotlight: A Better Brain Is Possible

A husband-wife neurologist team tells us how!

We cannot stop the aging process – but we can do some things to change its course. A just published read from AARP reveals that “the brain is not locked on a one-way path toward decline. It is possible for the brain to grow stronger with age, and there are simple, science-based steps that you can take to help support that growth.”

A new book from the “Brain Docs” (better known as the husband-and-wife team of renowned neurologists - Drs. Dean and Ayesha Sherzai) have completed research analysis and pioneering clinic work of over 30,000 patients. The result is a roadmap that lays out a nine-step process to support brain health. While the official book ‘A Better Brain With Age’ will not be released until January 12, 2027, the Sherzais have an amazing website that offers articles, a healthy minds series of research publications, recipes & more.

What you will find in their upcoming book and on their website now are evidence-based strategies that support simple changes with regards to:

| Food

| Sleep practices

| Movement

| Emotional regulation

| Focus

| Memory

| Creativity & novelty

| Social connection

| Purpose

On a personal note, the Brain Docs actually met as young physicians and talked about how both of their grandparents spent the last years of their lives suffering from dementia. Upon later conducting research at Loma Linda University, they found that up to 90% of Alzheimer's cases may be preventable through lifestyle changes. Their work has since been focused on optimizing brain health through research and accessible, proactive lifestyle strategies. Get inspired here

Cheers to small steps that largely improve our quality of life!
