Monday Market Update: Back To The Beach – Via Paint Picks

Get a first look into the 2026 Sherwin-Williams color forecast!

Is it just us, or does summer make you feel nostalgic? The sunshine often evokes summer memories of sandy beach days, bright-colored popsicles and playing outside until dark. If you are feeling a throwback to days gone by, you are not alone – as designers choosing the 2026 colors pf the year are feeling the exact same vibe!

Realtor.com® just published an article titled ‘The Top 3 Paint Color Trends for Next Year Will Transport You to the Beach—in the 1980s’ – read it in full here

The experts interviewed in the publication have much to say about the colors of the year, namely that they are like horoscopes for your living room; sometimes they are spot on, and sometimes they are not. In general, the colors selected for the coming year are based on broader design shifts, cultural moods and what buyers are responding to. Right now – that is the beach from back in the day!

Retro Teals

Reminiscent of the ocean, this soothing hue was popular in 2025 and isn’t going anywhere for 2026. Known for pairing well with warm wood tones and sandy neutrals, teal is popular among younger buyers, ideal for beachside properties and can invoke a coast side feel anywhere. Use it.

Earthy Reds

Clay red, terra cotta orange and rusty maroons: do these shades remind you of sunsets or give you Mediterranean visions? As another retro summer tone, rich, natural reds are great for desert-inspired designs and coordinate nicely with bronze fixtures and accents.

Bold Beiges

Beige does not have to be boring! Think deeper than tan with a soothing, sandy feel – beige works well with minimalist designs, natural woods, whites and brass hardware. It works as a fantastic contrast to the teals and reds noted above and is surpassing gray as the must-have neutral.

2026 is still 6 months away – but this summer can inspire your design choices today and in the year to come. These retro beach hues are an ideal way to help us reflect on the past, enjoy the present and get excited about the future!

Happy Summer,
