January 2021 Housing Sentiment Index (California)

How are you feeling about housing? How does it compare to what 1,000 recently surveyed Californians had to say?

The first month of 2021 is behind us, and 11 potential-packed months are straight ahead! How are you feeling about your goals and plans? Is a home or lifestyle change on the horizon? Based on the January 2021 California Housing Sentiment Index, many Golden State residents are reflecting on if it’s a good time to buy, sell or review rates and opportunities! Overall, the housing sentiment remains the same compared to last month – with a score of 74.

In summary, the results of the 1,000 California consumers surveyed depict that nearly 60% of respondents think it is a good time to sell. Almost 70% reported that they expected overall economic conditions to improve in California in the next 12 months, while there was a nearly 50/50 split in the question of if home prices will rise in the next year.

As you review the infographic below, please feel free to reach out if you have any questions about what it means for your buying and selling goals. We always encourage our friends and clients to look at real estate trends in their own local micro markets, to consider short- and long-term goals and to make decisions based on data trends over time (not emotional reactions to a weekly or monthly change in rates or home prices).

2021 is going to be a marathon and not a sprint – and we are here for it. Let us know what you need – anytime!
