Monday Market Update: Interior Accents That Are ‘Out’ For 2024

Just say no to these previously prioritized home designs.

2023 was quite a year and not just for the buying and selling side of the market. Home design surely had its ups and downs too, and Architectural Digest recently revealed the ‘ready to retire’ interior design trends of 2023.

Some of these features that are heading out may puzzle you as you might not have known they were in! Other trends have been waiting in the wings and can’t wait to make their debut in 2024. We encourage you to read the article ‘10 Interior Design Trends We’re Ready to Retire in 2023’ and we also hope that you enjoy our summary below.

Home Designs That Are Out For 2023

#1: No more putting collectibles and trinkets away – 2024 is projected to be the year of ‘cluttercore’ (or at least a little more than the minimalist expectation before!).

#2: Good-bye gray & greige, hello warm, saturated colors (we could be welcoming in the biggest color movement since the 70’s).

#3: Less checkered patterns, more plaids and stripes instead.

#4: No more furniture just for looks, 2024 is the year of bringing back chairs and couches for actual comfort.

#5: Farewell to faking it… don’t try to add too many lamps to a room that is short on natural light – embrace the moodiness with top-to-bottom pigmented colors. If you have a new build, keep it modern; don’t add old world molding. Embracing what you have is a core theme for 2024.

Did any of these soon-to-be-gone trends surprise you? Inspire you? We can just feel the potential of 2024, and we hope that you do too!

All my best,
